In 2009, experts personalities from the field of energy simulation profession and academics came together and formed an India affiliate of 'International Building Performance Simulation Association' called IBPSA(I). This group has Mr. Anurag Bajpai, Prof. Jyotirmay Mathur, Ms. Mili Majumdar, Prof. Rajan Rawal, Dr. Saket Saraf, Dr. Satish Kumar, Mr. Shishir Gupta, Mr. SMH Adil, Mr. Tanmay Tathagat, Prof. Vishal Garg; discussed 'Constitution' and 'By-laws' of IBPSA(I) and also selected office bearers for 2009-2011.

In 2016, IBPSA-India society was legally registered under Indian Society Act 1958 (Registration Number 757). The 12 founding members of the registered society are Prof. Jyotirmay Mathur (President), Prof. Vishal Garg (Past President), Mr. SMH Adil (Vice President), Mr. Hisham Ahmad (Secretary), Mr. Kushagra Juneja (Treasurer), Mr. Ashu Gupta, Mr. Money Khanna, Mr. Neeraj Sharma, Ms. Priyam Tewari, Dr. Shivraj Dhaka, Mr. Vaibhav Rai Khare, and Mr. Yasin Khan. The office bearers and executive members have been selected for the society years 2017-2019.
